External Links
Q: Why do links to other web sites pop-up in a separate
window?
A: All links that take the user away from the course material
have been designated to appear in a new or blank window. Simply close
this new window once you have finished with the web site. You will see
the CCSME training site directly below that window. If you accidentally
close the CCSME training site simply open a new browser window and type
in www.ccsmetraining.org and
navigate to where you left off in the material (the server will ask you
for your user name and password).
Q: I clicked on a link that took me to an address on the
Web that did not match the link I clicked or I clicked on a dead link,
why did this happen?
A: We make every effort to make sure that our external
links are updated (they have been updated to the best of our ability
as of 6/2005), however, CCSME has no control over external sources of
information nor can we be held responsible for any changes or deletions
made to these links. Please try to retrace your steps to the home page
and locate the link you have been pointed to if this occurs. In many
situations we have provided the home page link in addition to the targeted
link.
POP-up Windows
Q: What if I can't see a test once I have clicked on the
link for it?
A: You probably have pop-up window blocker software installed
on your system. You must deactivate the software to allow our pop-up
windows to work.
Q: I am trying to view a slide on your pages, why can't
I see it?
A: As above, you must disable pop-up windows. Another possible
cause is that the window that contains the slide is hiding below the
main window. Windows allows multiple browser windows, simply move your
mouse down to your task bar (or to whatever location your task bar is
locked) and click on the window that contains the slide. It is best to
close each slide window once you have finished viewing it. Keep in mind
that slides appear when you roll over a slide area, you do not have to
click on it.
Submitting Tests
Q: How
do I know if a test has been submitted properly?
A: You should get a confirmation page stating that you have completed the test. You only have to submit tests at the end of each competency. Module-based tests are not submitted and are only there to enhance your learning experience. Once you complete each competency you should also receive a certificate in Adobe Acrobat PDF format via your e-mail address.
Viewing Videos
Q: I am
trying to view a video but it won't play.
A: If you have the plug-in for the video (the videos are
available in three formats, Macromedia
Flash™, Apple
Quick Time™ and Microsoft
Windows Media™) you should be able to play each video. There may be something
wrong with the plug-in you have or your browser and operating system
may be out-of-date. If this is the case please consult the help sections
of these programs. You can click on links above to get the proper plug-in
if you wish. We are not responsible for any videos that do not play on
a user's system. The videos and slides are meant as additional amenities
to the curriculum and are not crucial to complete the course.
